Rationale: An interactive storytelling workshop, about the life of our valley’s river and its wildlife, since the last ice age to the present day and the people who have changed it for better or worse.
Idea: The river river was devised for the Trust under a previous project. The current project officer of the Taff Bargoed wanted to use the Living River workshop in the libraries, in the rural wards over the summer holidays, in the children’s section as it gives a wonderful insight into human activities and how they impact our environment. This was done using the libraries as community hubs, where the children can hopefully come on their own to an activity in the holidays.
Outcome: Over the 4 sessions over 40 young people attended and were introduced to our valleys rivers’ rich history. Thanks to Dowlais Engine House and Treharris Kidz Den for attending, Megan for volunteering and Rhianwen Long from Merthyr libraries for helping to organise the sessions.
