The Taff Bargoed Project is funded by The Rural Development fund programme of the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Union. The object of the project was to connect the local community to the benefits of the river that runs through the valley and to educate and involve the local people including the schools in the project. This has been achieved by out door class rooms both at the schools and in the Parc and the Running of the Eels in the Class room project, see else where on our site (Education). The project is running until Oct 2019 when we will update you on more of the work.
This project is hopefully the forerunner of a larger catchment scale project that will look at the whole river catchment to improve upland management, reduce the silt load in the river, as well as helping to reduce the possibility of flooding.
